Signs a Crystal is Not Working For You
You’re excited to explore the world of crystals and all their metaphysical goodness. You can’t wait to see how your new crystal will change your life. Will it bring about prosperity? Will it help you attract new love? Will it enhance your communication with your Spirit Guides? Luckily there’s a crystal for every intention. But what happens when you’re not getting the results that you seek?
When you first start learning about crystals and how different crystals can be used for different purposes, it’s natural to want to go out and buy every crystal that will help you manifest what you want in your life. (That’s what I did when I bought a Citrine crystal. Citrine is known for attracting prosperity and wealth and my income quadrupled in the following months. You can read about my experience here.)
But what many people don’t realize at first is that everyone’s experience with crystals is different. The way I react to rose quartz might be different from the way that you react to rose quartz. I may feel relaxed by it while you may feel anxious around it. Likewise, there are multiple crystals that will provide similar effects. For example, Jet, Black Tourmaline and Obsidian all are crystals that can be used for grounding. However, I may prefer Jet and you may find that Obsidian works best for you.
Since so much varies from person to person it’s a good idea to experiment with crystals and see which ones resonate most with you. Also, make sure you clean crystals before you use them. If you don’t, you could pick up on the energy of the person who had the crystal before you did. THAT could be what’s impacting your experience.
With that said, here are a few signs to look out for that could indicate that a particular crystal is not for you:

You lose the crystal
The Universe has a rhyme and reason for everything it does. When you lose something, I like to think that it’s the Universe’s way of saying I no longer need that thing or someone else needs it more. It’s not uncommon for us to need a particular crystal temporarily. If you lose a crystal, it could simply mean that you no longer need o work with those energies.
You don’t feel a connection to the crystal
I’ve heard people wonder out loud if something was wrong with them because they didn’t feel anything when they were working with a particular crystal. Everyone is different. Some crystals may not appeal to you while others will jump out at you and make your skin tingle. If there’s no connection, accept that that particular crystal is not for you. If you want to work with the energies that that crystal possesses, find another crystal that has them.
You feel bad or uncomfortable when you’re around the crystal
When I start working with new crystals I always work with one at a time until I’m familiar with its energy. That way, I know how the crystal makes me feel. Sometimes I find that the way I use the crystal needs to be adjusted. The first time I slept with amethyst under my pillow, I couldn’t sleep. (Amethyst encourages psychic activity. Perhaps it was too much for me while I slept.) I removed it from under my pillow and placed it on my nightstand and I slept like a baby.
Pay attention to how you feel around crystals. Don’t be afraid to put a crystal down if it’s not working for you, and look to a different one.
