You’ve read books on intuition. You have tarot cards — and you even use them. You get intuitive messages at random times. You pick up intuitive information about others that turns out to be true. But you can’t seem to get messages about the things you most want to know — when you want to know them.
What good is having these intuitive superpowers if they don’t provide information at the most important times?
Shouldn’t it warn you when a layoff is coming up? Or shouldn’t it give you a heads up that you should talk to the person in the elevator with you since they were hiring for a job that would have been perfect for you? Or maybe it should have nudged you to go to the coffee shop because a potential love interest was there working.
The truth is, intuition is supposed to guide you when you need it. When you just experience it at random moments, it’s cute, or you could call it a thrill, but it’s not particularly helpful.
So, if your intuition ghosts you when you need it, the problem isn’t your intuition; the problem is you.
The most common reasons your intuition ghosts you
Intuition is like a dance that you initiate with a partner. You can’t just sit around waiting for it to appear. Instead, you have to engage it. Work with it. Learn to recognize its messages. If your intuition has the tendency to go silent on you, it’s probably because of one of the following reasons.
You’ve ignored it in the past.
Intuition rewards loyalty. If you pay attention to it and trust it and start to take actions based on it, it will get stronger. But if you get messages and you don’t believe them, your intuition stops wasting its time. The insights will start coming fewer and farther between, and when they do come you probably won’t notice.

You don’t trust it.
See the reason above. If you don’t trust something, you ignore the message it’s giving you. And, again, if you ignore your intuition, it will start to ignore you. I’m not going to pretend that trusting your intuition is an easy process. It’s not. But the more you take action based on intuitive messages, the stronger your intuition will become.
You don’t ask questions.
The easiest way to get the psychic answers you want is by asking the right questions. To do so, start normalizing having a question in your head at all times. There is always something you want to know. There is always information your intuition can help you with. When you have a question in your head and set the intention to receive the answer, start looking for signs that provide that answer. This substack post explains how to use this strategy.
You haven’t taken the time to learn its unique symbols.
Your intuition speaks to you in a language made up of psychic symbols. Just as you would learn how to speak a foreign language before moving abroad, you must learn to speak in psychic symbols if you want to know what your intuition is trying to tell you. However, there is no one language of symbols that is used universally. The psychic symbols your intuition and Spirit Guides use when sending messages to you are likely to be different from the symbols a friend or family member would see when they receive psychic messages. Everyone’s symbols are unique to them.
Your mind is too noisy.
When you’re mind is filled with loud thoughts or you’re doing something to keep from thinking such as watching television or keeping a lot of commotion around you, it’s easier for you to miss what your intuition is trying to tell you. Some people assume their intuition will give them obvious messages such as through a burning bush. On the contrary, intuition is typically subtle. If you’re constantly thinking about what happened in the past or what’s coming in the future, you aren’t focused on the now, which is typically where you’ll find your intuitive nudges.
