I can’t tell you how many people I’ve heard say that they want to improve their health this year. Most of them are focusing on losing weight while some say they want to exercise more or change their diet. All of these are lofty goals, but so many of us neglect our energetic centers when we talk about making positive changes to our health.
When our chakras are not balanced or if they are blocked, the imbalance can eventually lead to physical dis-ease. By paying attention to our chakras and making an effort to keep them in balance, we can not only gain insight into where we may have energetic and emotional imbalances, but we may prevent other illnesses from cropping up in our lives at later times.
Here’s why we should not do that.
My blocked chakra led to a physical health challenge
This is a lesson I wish I learned sooner.
A few years ago, I dealt with a health crisis — a cancer diagnosis. Interestingly, I remembered recently that a healer had told me years ago that my third chakra, or solar plexus chakra was blocked. I didn’t really pay too much attention to her at the time because when I met her, that wasn’t what I was there to talk with her about. (How many times are we so focused on the messages we want to hear that we miss the other important messages the Universe has for us.)
I was short-sighted at the time because the part of my body that was affected by my health crisis is governed by the third chakra. While I’m no doctor and this blog in no way is meant to offer medical advice, I do believe that had I taken action to address my third chakra issues, I wouldn’t have been in such a dire predicament later.
There were other signs in my life that my third chakra was blocked.
The third chakra is the power center, and I always struggled with standing in my own power and saying ‘no’ to people when I didn’t really want to do what they wanted me to do. I often helped others to the detriment of myself. If I had my last dollar, I would give it to a loved one, leaving myself to starve.
Yes there may have been other factors at play, but learning that a chakra is blocked is an opportunity to bring conscious awareness to a part of the body that needs healing. The blockage doesn’t necessarily cause illness; it just points out that something energetically is not right. Knowing what I know now, I’d go so far as to say that it wouldn’t hurt to visit a doctor or a naturopath to have parts of the body that are governed by that particular chakra examined.
A chakra healing technique
So I’ve learned my lesson, and in addition to exploring ways to balance my third chakra, I’m working consciously to make sure all of my chakras get the attention they need. One way I’m doing this is through Chakra Insight Cards, an Oracle deck that is particularly designed to help us keep our energetic centers in check. You can find a review of this deck here.
Each morning as part of my routine, I pull a card from the Chakra Insight deck and I meditate with it. There are seven cards in the deck for each chakra, so if you find yourself pulling multiple cards in a short period of time pertaining to the same chakra, the Universe is letting you know that’s an area where you should really focus your attention. Not surprisingly, I’ve been picking cards related to the third chakra lately, as well as cards related to the second chakra, or sacral chakra.
The good news is my physical health has vastly improved. I credit traditional medicine with saving my life but chakra healing has helped me to maintain it.
