Telepathy can be a cool skill to have when you’re close to someone. In fact, we share telepathic connections all the time with those we love such as romantic partners, family members and close friends. You may finish each others’ sentences or know instinctively what the other person is thinking without a single word having to be uttered. But sometimes we share a telepathic connection with someone that we no longer want to be connected with. (If you’ve been through a romantic breakup, you likely know what I mean.) Luckily there are ways to break a telepathic link.
What are some signs that you have a telepathic connection with someone? You may be constantly having thoughts about them, or you may be hearing words that they frequently speak over and over again in your head. Sometimes you’ll have a thought that pops into your head and makes no sense to you given your current train of thought. For example, you could be thinking about jogging in the park and a thought about a pair of rain boots may pop into your mind. If that makes no sense to you, it could be a thought belonging to someone you share a telepathic connection with.
If you are an empath, you may even be feeling strong emotions that don’t make sense to you because technically they don’t belong to you. Rather, you are picking up on the emotions of that other person.
If the telepathic connection is strong, they may even be picking up on some of your thoughts. If you don’t want to be connected to the person, then you definitely do not want them picking up on your thoughts.
Strategies for Breaking a Telepathic Connection
So what do you do when you want to distance yourself from that person telepathically and break a telepathic link? There are a number of strategies that can help.
One of the best things you can do to break a telepathic link is work on being present to the moment. When you get lost in thoughts of the past or the future, you are not focused on the present and it’s easier for someone with a telepathic connection to get inside your mind, so to speak. When you are focused on the present, you notice your thoughts and you notice if a thought pops up that doesn’t make sense to you. If that happens, gently shift your attention away from it.
You can also say a prayer or set the intention that the telepathic connection be dissolved. While you can subconsciously allow a telepathic connection, no one can connect to you if you consciously forbid it. By setting the intention to break the tie, the Universe begins to work on your behalf.
You can repeat affirmations that proclaim that you are no longer connected to this person. For example, you might say ‘My telepathic link with Charlie is broken’ over and over again 200 times per day. I find that repeating affirmations in front of a mirror can be even more powerful since you are watching yourself express your intended reality.
One thing you don’t have to do: You don’t have to ask the other person to break the link or even let that know that you are breaking the link. They will likely feel the difference once it is done; you have the right to determine who you share a telepathic connection with and who you don’t.
